Toronto, Ontario – October 14, 2008 – Canadian designer Jing Liu of JUZD (short for “juiced”) will be showing his first collection during one of the most high profile fashion events in the world – L.A. Fashion Week. L.A., along with New York, is known as one of the fashion capitals of the U.S. and is one of the top fashion cities in the world. Spring 2009’s L.A. Fashion Week is being held from Friday, October 12 through Friday, October 17, 2008.
The L.A. fashion show will be held at the 22,000 square foot Versus Night Club, located deep in the heart of the L.A. Fashion District. The megaclub renovated the historic 1920s L.A. Stock Exchange to its original form. This event will be a soft launch for the club and includes an all-star cast of musicians including the Roots’ DJ ?uestlove, Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes, and Miami’s DJ Irie (DJ for Jamie Foxx, Pepsi, and the Miami Heat). The event will also showcase three other L.A. based brands – LRG, Factory Girl, and Grefphenreed.
JUZD has chosen to partner with Kentucky Denim jeans for the men’s jeans. “After checking out their jeans in Miami, it was love at first sight,” said Liu. “They were the perfect brand to complement our JUZD tees.” Kentucky Denim is a premium denim company based out of L.A. with accounts at the trendiest boutiques such as Fred Segal, Lisa Kline, M Fredric, Planet Funk, and many others.
Following the big L.A. show, JUZD will be bringing the line back home for Toronto’s Fashion Week. The JUZD collection will showcase at Rockwood Nightclub at 31 Mercer Street on Thursday, October 23rd.
The JUZD bamboo collection is the first designer label to have all pieces created from an exclusive and custom-designed and milled bamboo fabric. The line debuted only a few months ago. In that short time, it has been well-received by the media. At least eight magazines and two television shows have released, or will be releasing, features on this collection. It has already been featured on a national Cosmopolitan Magazine TV commercial and stars have been wearing it on the red carpet for the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Members of the fashion industry have been in awe of the fabric, and have been praising JUZD as bringing an edge to the “hippie” image of eco-fashion.
